Editor's note: We have removed the name of the woman who was earlier identified as the victim of the fatal crash by the North Carolina Highway Patrol. However, the NCHP now said the name of the person they shared is incorrect. A woman died after a car crash in Alamance County early Thursday morning. The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the woman was riding in another vehicle that crashed and was transported to Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, where she later died. Troopers said the crash happened around 6:43 a.m. on NC-87 near Boy Wood Road in Alamance County. A woman died after a car crash in Alamance County early Thursday morning.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the woman was riding in another vehicle that crashed and was transported to Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, where she later died.

Troopers said the crash happened around 6:43 a.m. on NC-87 near Boy Wood Road in Alamance County.

They said a driver operating a Hyundai Elantra crashed into another vehicle head-on after traveling across the center of the road. Both drivers suffered serious injuries and were transported to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
