The WGAL News 8 Storm Team says 40+mph wind gusts are possible, periods of heavy rain causing minor flooding, and isolated severe thunderstorms are possible tonight.

Impact Day: Strong wind gusts, periods of heavy rain, isolated strong to severe thunderstorms possible this evening & overnight.A powerful storm moving northeast from the Tennessee River Valley to the Susquehanna Valley brings the potential for strong wind gusts, periods of heavy rain, and isolated strong to severe thunderstorms late this evening through the overnight hours.Periods of rain will develop from the south late this evening. Expect breezy winds through midday, then windy conditions later. Sustained southerly winds will increase to 15-25 mph, with gusts to 40 mph. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms with gusty winds are possible. There is a very low chance for tornadoes, but our thick cloud cover we've had through the day is keeping that threat extremely low at this time. Areas along and west of I-99 have a higher chance for tornadoes later today, tonight.As a cold front approaches, areas of rain will move through tonight. The rain could be heavy at times, and you may also hear thunder. Expect strong wind gusts around 45 mph. There is a low chance some of these heavy downpours could produce minor creek, stream flooding along with poor-drainage flooding in cities and there could be some ponding water on roadways.The upper -level system will swing overhead Friday, leading to scattered showers and windy conditions. Sustained winds will be 15-25 mph from the WNW, with gusts to 40 mph. Rain totals for the entire event will range from .50" to 1" in most areas. Isolated totals more than 1" are possible.
