SMC Motorcycle School: Passion, Fun, Methodology, and Safety since 2015

Passion, fun, methodology, safety: these are the ingredients that have always characterized the SMC Motorcycle School, established in 2015 thanks to a collaboration with MotoGP World Champion Jorge Lorenzo and his father Chico with the goal of becoming a hub for growth and gathering for all motorsport enthusiasts. A constantly evolving project that has seen champions like Jorge Martin, Joan Mir, and Tony Arbolino train on its tracks and that in these nine years has given life to 5 locations in Italy - Como, Vignate (Milan), Orte (Viterbo), Bari, and Agrigento - with the participation of almost 20 thousand students. Numbers set to grow, considering that in the next months the opening of 3 new schools in Turin, Sondrio, and Padua is planned. Motorcycle School welcomes students of every age and motorcycle level: from the nursery of young ones nurturing the dream of professionalism ('little pilots' who race the Italian Junior Speed Championship), to road motorcyclists wanting to increase their level of road safety, up to professionals (or amateurs) who wish to improve technique and style for track performance. In SMC, the most modern riding techniques are taught with a consolidated and easily learnable training method for everyone, through the use of 'small wheel' bikes, minimotos for children, and pit bikes for adults. For every student, a personalized growth path is defined based on the goals they wish to achieve, in a professional yet familiar context, where safety, method, and technique are the foundation on which SMC Instructors work every day. After evaluating the theoretical knowledge level of a motorcycle and its safety features, each student is required to perform a series of exercises to determine their riding level (4 levels: yellow - beginner, green - intermediate, blue - expert, black - racer), and define the development path, also in relation to their expectations. The strength of SMC Motorcycle School is the method (dedicated to asphalt motorcycling), designed to support students to ride safely and consciously, implementing some precise rules: learning to know the motorcycle and its controls, the correct posture to maintain on it, and the movements to make with every part of the body in all phases of riding. The courses take place in facilities closed to traffic and involve the performance of specific exercises, in limited spaces and at contained speeds, where technique is trained. The repetition of these exercises helps to generate automatisms and to improve practice: learning is done on small bikes and replicated on big bikes, adapting the appropriate precautions of the road or the track. All of this under the supervision of the Instructors, the real added value of SMC. Motorcycle enthusiasts with backgrounds in local and national competitions, the instructors are certified by the Italian Motorcyclist Federation (FMI) and are in close contact with the student at all times of the lesson: briefing, warm-up, performing exercises on the bike, evaluation, and real-time feedback. Motorcycle School offers everyone the opportunity to approach motorsport at contained costs, with a variety of courses aimed at meeting the individual pilot's needs. The first step for all those who want to start a journey in SMC is the first trial lesson at the cost of 120 euros (including no. 2 hours of lesson with motorcycles and instructors, rental of the safety kit - suits with protections, helmet, and gloves - and annual membership), scalable in case one wishes to follow up on the experience by purchasing a lesson package, choosing among different types, from a minimum of 8 hours (4 lessons) to a maximum of 30 hours (15 total lessons).
