HPD: Man who called police to report he fatally shot his wife now charged with murder

The victim, a woman in her late 40s, was found dead in a bedroom. Houston police said it appears she was shot at least once possibly in the head or face area.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A man is now charged with murder after he reported to police that he fatally shot his wife Saturday night, according to Houston police. 

It happened at a home on Tuffly Street near Fidelity Street in east Houston. 

Police said a man in his 50s called police to tell them he shot and killed his wife.

When police got to the home, they found the suspect lying on the stairs with a gun next to him. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police entered the home and found the victim, a woman in her late 40s, dead in the back bedroom.

Police said it appears the victim was shot at least once possibly in the head or face area. 

The suspect was interviewed by detectives and is charged with murder. A motive is unknown at this time.
