El Paso Water and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) want to share their findings on a study to help alleviate flooding in Central El Paso.

EPWater and USACE are inviting the public to learn what came out of the study in an open-house meeting on Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Park Senior Center.

The meeting will feature a presentation by USACE, which will be sharing the findings from a three-year study that ran flooding models in central El Paso and examined the drainage system in that area.

EPWater and USACE will also update the community on possible next steps to provide support for stormwater infrastructure in that neighborhood.

As KFOX14/CBS4 reported in 2021, the study cost $3 million which was split between both EPWater and USACE.

When the study was commissioned, Central El Paso had been hit hard that monsoon season.

On August 12, 2021, the area received 3.2 inches of rain in one hour, prompting massive flooding.

National Weather Service officials at the time called it a once in 230-year event.
