Web3 MMORPG Ragnarok Landverse, a game based on the Ragnarok Online IP, celebrated its half-year anniversary with an exclusive community meetup in the Philippines called “We Party As One”. The half-year anniversary event commemorated growth, excitement, and shared experiences of the game with its community, which was held in San Juan, Philippines on March 23, 2024.

The community event saw a sizeable turnout of over 100 attendees. The event also had special appearances from Filipino variety game streamer Aningning and Manila-based cosplayer, content creator, and streamer Leny Ming.

Other notable attendees spotted in the crowd include shoutcasters Valerie “Rebyczko” Byczko and Hannah “Yuuko” Alcantara, streamers Kim “Kapitana” Pacheco and Kim “IamKimmy” Ortiz, and some representatives from one of the game’s notable player guilds in DKB.

Throughout Ragnarok Landverse’s We Party As One community gathering event, attendees were able to experience several activities such as a treasure hunt activity “Poring Hunt” where they hunt for porings hidden around the event venue that serves as loot boxes and souvenirs. Fans were also able to make poring figures out of clay, take pictures in a photo booth, and consume Ragnarok-themed food for their meals.

New NPC, class expansions, and major PVP revamps in Ragnarok Landverse

During the We Party As One half-year anniversary event, Maxion, the developer and publisher of Ragnarok Landverse, announced several updates their players can expect to come to the game soon.

One of the major announcements revealed during the event was the arrival of a new NPC, Kafra Nova, to the game. Several cosplayers, including Leny Ming, wore costumes of the NPC, knowing about the reveal beforehand. Fans enthusiastically took pictures of and with them throughout the event.

The developers described Kafra Nova as an NPC character that exudes beauty and has a “bubbly charm” with her every interaction. As such, Kafra Nova makes the atmosphere more lively for players while also giving the game a futuristic theme because of her anachronistic clothing. Once in-game, Kafra will provide services like inventory storage and teleportation to the game’s major towns.

Besides the new NPC announcement, Maxion also hinted at the much-anticipated expanded classes and upcoming episode 4.0 Terra Nova. Additionally, a major revamp in the player-versus-player system was announced, with the implementation of the War of Emperium (WOE) enchantment system, alongside the introduction of brand-new maps tailored specifically for WOE battles.

Ragnarok Landverse brings RO to the blockchain space

Similar to the original Ragnarok Online games, Ragnarok Landverse is also a PC game with MMORPG gameplay elements. However, this is the first official game in the series to add blockchain features like the mining system, land system, and NFT marketplace. In fact, the game was built with NFTs in mind. Maxion says that the game promotes a player-driven economy and that its systems incentivize players to progress further in the game.

In spite of this, Maxion promised players that the game would retain most of the mechanics and gameplay elements it was known for. A press statement from its release explained its pedigree:

“A twist to the classic MMORPG Ragnarok Online (RO), Ragnarok Landverse showcases elements that enhance the players’ experience. Featuring the incorporation of blockchain along with new and revamped systems like hybrid PK system, mining features and many more, Ragnarok Landverse brings players a novel experience while capturing the essence of nostalgia for many RO fans.”

Established in 2023, Maxion was formed specifically for this project, launching it to the global market.
