A crash involving what appeared to be an 18-wheeler blocked all eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Elysian Fields Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident was first reported at 12:45 p.m., according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. An hour later, police, paramedics and the New Orleans Fire Department were still on the scene, according to a spokesperson with the New Orleans Police Department.
Police didn't say how many vehicles were involved in the crash but said no "serious injuries" were reported.
Traffic was bumper-to-bumper stretching roughly 4 miles back to Poydras Street until shortly after 3 p.m., when I-10 East reopened.
A photo shared to X by Total Traffic New Orleans shortly before 1 p.m. showed what looked like an 18-wheeler blocking the roadway.
