HOLLIS (WGME) -- A small plane made an emergency landing near the Poland Springs facility in Hollis Wednesday afternoon.

The small Cessna model 180 plane made an emergency landing to refuel near the Poland Springs facility, according to the York County Sheriff.

The York County Sheriff says they were dispatched to the plane at Killick Pond Road in Hollis at approximately 2 p.m.

According to online records available at Flightaware.com, the plane took off from Oxford County Regional Airport at 1:06 p.m. and traveled southwest until landing at 1:29 p.m. and traveled a total of 39 miles.

Deputies found the plane parked in front of the Poland Springs facility. The pilot, a 57-year-old man from Norway, told deputies he was low on fuel and had to land the plane.

The York County Sheriff says the plane will be stored on the Poland Springs property until the owner can have it disassembled and removed from the property per orders from the FAA.

The York County Sheriff formerly reported that Killick Pond Road would be blocked off by the Hollis Fire Department to allow for takeoff after refueling.
