Two men are dead and a man living with them is charged with their murders, Franklinton police said.

At 2 a.m. Friday, Franklinton police and Franklin County deputies responded to a double homicide at a home on Pine Street.

After an hours-long standoff, Christian Webster, 30, was taken into custody after he had barricaded himself inside the home. Webster is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

"Around midnight, I heard a shot," neighbor Stephanie Poole said. "It was like a pop noise.

"I got up, and I saw the flashing lights in my window. So, I jumped up, and I'm like, 'What is going on?' There [were] cops lined the whole street."

Broadcastify radio traffic confirmed this call came in as a shooting. Then, it appeared to quickly turn into a barricade situation with an armed suspect inside a home on Pine Street.

"While we have him on the line, we also have his father from out of town on the line advising he may have attacked the roommates," a dispatcher said on the Broadcastify radio traffic.

Broadcastify radio traffic also had another dispatcher speak directly to Webster.

"[I've] got the subject on the line," the dispatcher states. "Just advised him, if he comes outside with his hands up peacefully, there will be no harm done to us."

The scene cleared before 1 p.m. Friday.

Poole said she thinks Webster lost his job in December and got a gun. She said called 911 last weekend after Webster fired a shotgun multiple times in the backyard of a home.

"Ever since last weekend, I've just been really uneasy," Poole said. "Like, I just felt something was up."

WRAL News saw authorities taking out two bodies on two stretchers.

Authorities are holding Webster under no bond at the Franklin County Detention Center.
