Wipro veteran Srinivas Pallia has been made the new chief executive officer of the IT major, replacing Thierry Delaporte. "At their meeting held on April 6, 2024, pursuant to the recommendation of the nomination and remuneration committee, the board of directors has approved the appointment of Srinivas Pallia as the chief executive officer and managing director of the company with effect from April 7, 2024, for a period of five years, subject to the approval of shareholders and the central government as may be applicable," the company had said in a exchanges filing.

After taking over as CEO, Pallia, in a mail to the employees, said he is “deeply honoured to lead an organisation with a remarkable 78-year history,” and thanked the Wipro board for trusting in him.

“Wipro’s steadfast dedication to both profit and purpose has long inspired me. It is this ethos that has driven my commitment to the company for the past 32 years. Like many of you, I joined Wipro right out of college. These past three decades within our company have been transformative—a journey of continuous discovery, growth, and learning that shaped me into the leader I am today.”

Pallia, who has been with Wipro for over three decades and most recently served as the CEO for 'Americas 1' region, which is Wipro's biggest and fastest growing strategic market, said throughout the years, he has seen the company's remarkable resilience and adaptability.

“Across various functions, diverse geographies, and service lines, I’ve had the privilege of experiencing firsthand the breadth and depth of our business. Through numerous technology cycles and industry shifts, I have seen our company’s remarkable resilience and adaptability. Your collective efforts have propelled our success, and I’m honoured to lead such a talented and diverse team,” he wrote.

Highlighting the importance of balancing work and life, he said hiking is his passion and the qualities that he relies on while hiking are the same ones guiding him as a leader— resilience, tenacity, and adaptability.

“As I have learned to appreciate both the journey and the destination while hiking, I am dedicated to creating a culture that values every step of our journey—triumphs, setbacks, and everything in between.”

He said he would be meeting with Wipro's associates and clients to understand their perspectives and build on a shared vision. “Our core purpose remains supporting our clients’ success. I will be relentless in pursuing excellence and fostering a collaborative environment.”
