ARKANSAS LEGISLATORS ARE BACK IN SESSION, DECIDING HOW TO BEST SPEND YOUR TAX DOLLARS. GOVERNOR SANDERS IS PROPOSING A $6.3 BUDGET FOR THE COMING YEAR. THAT'S AN INCREASE OF $109 MILLION DOLLARS FROM LAST YEAR. NEARLY ALL OF THAT INCREASE WOULD GO TOWARD EDUCATION AND THE GOVERNOR'S NEW SCHOOL VOUCHER PROGRAM. <> ("Pulling critical resources away from public schools to take care of about 5% of students and robbing resources to schools that serve about 95% of students") <> ("I think the people of Arkansas would say $100 million increase in spending is plenty. Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders delivered the 2024 State of the State address Monday.Sanders, who was inaugurated a little more than a year ago, gave her first State of the State.During her speech, she touted her education plan that lawmakers passed last year. She invited families that use Arkansas' new school vouchers program to the address. She also welcomed incoming Razorbacks men's basketball coach to Arkansas."We are even getting a former Kentucky Wildcat in Fayetteville as I speak," she said. "Welcome to Arkansas, Coach."Sanders gave her address before the General Assembly, which is meeting for its fiscal session.The top item on lawmakers' agenda is Sanders' $6.3 billion proposed budget for the coming year.
