Man, 30, dies after being shot in neck late Saturday in Austin, Chicago police say

CHICAGO — A 30-year-old man died after being shot in the neck late Saturday night in the Austin neighborhood on the city’s West Side, according to Chicago police.

Police say just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 4800 block of West Arthington Street and found a group of people standing on the street.

The 30-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck by an unknown person and pronounced dead a short time later, according to police.

A 36-year-man was shot in the left leg, police say, and transported by the Chicago Fire Department to an area hospital in good condition.

Nobody is in custody, and Area Four detectives are investigating.
