UPDATE: Man dead after tree falls on Cumberland County home

A large tree fell on a Cumberland County home, killing at least one person, during severe overnight winds, authorities said.

A fallen tree with entrapment call came in around 3:10 a.m. Monday on the 800 block of the Baltimore Pike (Route 94) in South Middleton Township, according to Cumberland County dispatch.

The coroner’s office was called to the scene. The identity of the person who was killed was not immediately available.

Dispatchers were unable to confirm whether anyone was treated for non-fatal injuries.

Surrounding roads are open to traffic as of 7 a.m. Monday, according to dispatch.

The National Weather Service said the Harrisburg area saw up to 54 mph winds Sunday into early Monday. Forty to 55 mph gusts could continue into late Monday afternoon.
