A moderate aftershock was reported in New Jersey on Friday evening, and people in Connecticut have reported feeling it.
The U.S. Geological Survey said a 4.0 magnitude earthquake happened just before 6 p.m. in Gladstone, New Jersey.
Inspections are currently underway in Connecticut after a magnitude 4.8 earthquake in New Jersey this morning.
Officials from the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security said there have been no reports of significant damage in the state.

There was an earthquake around 10:23 a.m. Friday near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, around 45 miles west of New York City, and the NBC Connecticut newsroom started to receive several calls right after from people who said they felt it.

State officials held a news conference at 1:30 p.m. to discuss the response to the earthquake.
During the news conference, the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security said they are handling this incident the way they would handle any potential emergency and they are working with regional offices to determine if there has been any damage in the state.
They said there have been no reports of significant damage, but they are here to assist any city or town that needs assistance.
Students at Central Middle School were moved to Greenwich High School as a precaution, according to police. They said they are not aware of any structural damage, but anyone with concerns or who finds issues to report should call the Greenwich Police Department’s non-emergency number at 203-622-8000 and hit the option for dispatch.
If there is an emergency, residents should call 911.
Utility companies across the state are surveying their lines to see if the earthquake caused any damage, according to the Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
The Millstone Power Station in Waterford is following its normal procedures after an earthquake and it's operating at 100% power.
The state Department of Administrative Services is surveying state buildings.
State officials said the state Department of Transportation has no reported concerns, but they are inspecting bridges and bridge structures as a precaution.
Amtrak and Metro North are both running, but there are some slowdowns in areas as they check the tracks.
The Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security said Bradley International Airport was in a pause for a little while and airport staff and state police inspected the facility. The airport is now back up and running.
The emergency management director of New Canaan sent out a message saying the earthquake was felt strongly in town, but there are no reports of damage in town. If any residents do have damage, they are asked to call emergency management at 203-594-4100 and leave a message with your name, number and description of the damage.
Darien Police said they have not received any reports of damage.
Officials in Bridgeport said that, according to the USGS, Bridgeport experienced closer to a 3.1 when distance is taken into account and there have been no reports of any injuries or damage.
If residents do have damage, they should email eoc@bridgeportct.gov.
The earthquake shook the light beacon at Greens Ledge Lighthouse in Norwalk and it was captured on video.
And the FAA Tweeted that the earthquake might impact some air traffic facilities in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Baltimore.
What to do after an earthquake
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection recommends that you look around after an earthquake to make sure it is safe to move, then exit the building.
Expect aftershocks and check on any neighbors who might require special assistance.
