DANBURY, Conn. (WTNH) – The City of Danbury was ranked 10th in a list of the most diverse cities in America, according to a study by WalletHub.

“Danbury is one of the best places to live, work, grow, and play, this ranking is a testament to the strong, welcoming community our city is,” said Mayor Roberto L. Alves in a statement Tuesday. “We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate and embrace Danbury’s diverse, multidimensional makeup which brings economic, social, and societal benefits with it.”

The personal finance company’s ranking was determined by combining five major diversity categories: household, religious, socioeconomic, cultural, and economic diversity. Previous studies on each category can be found on the WalletHub website.

WalletHub Analyst Cassandra Happe said the most diverse cities on their list demonstrate diversity not just in race and gender, but also things like the residents’ languages, job type, and household size.

In Connecticut, Bridgeport was ranked 12th, Stamford at 19th, and Norwalk at 30th.

WalletHub named three Maryland cities as the most “diverse” in America- including Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, and Germantown.

Brattleboro, Vermont was ranked the least diverse, out of 501 cities considered.
