'Cinema is not dead': Movie theater returning to old Harford County location
A recently closed movie theater won't be shuttered for long, and Harford County residents might recognize the new tenant.AMC announced the closure of its Churchville location earlier this week, officially shutting its doors Sunday.On Thursday, Flagship Premium Cinemas revealed it will take over the theater, making its return to the venue more than 20 years after it first opened there."Cinema is not dead! We are looking forward to not only filling a cinematic void for the community but offering a luxury and family-friendly theater experience for the area," Flagship president Paul Wenger said in a news release. "Flagship Cinemas is bringing back the magic of the movies to this community and will provide an unforgettable entertainment destination for movie lovers of all ages. Our company opened this facility back in 2001, and we enjoyed a wonderful reputation in the area for over a decade. We've come full circle with our return, and we have a great surprise in store for this Churchville theater."The theater will offer "luxury amenities" such as power reclining and heated seating.Officials said they aim to open this fall.
