Upcoming courses at SWWFRC

We will be hosting a number of in-house courses here in the Centre soon. In May we will start “Retail Selling” QQI Level 5 and on a date yet to be confirmed, “Train the Trainer “ Level 6 will be on offer. For more information contact Jennie on 087 0985706 or email read@swwfrc.ie.

Ramsgrange Horticultural Society

Our new gardening course started this week and Sarah Whelan demonstrated seed sowing and explained how to grow on and harden off plants. Over the next few weeks we will learn about how to grow our own vegetables, herbs, bedding plants, and much more.

We will be shown how to prepare our gardens for planting and how to maintain them throughout the growing season. There will also be garden visits to some well known gardens. The course will run through the months of April, May and June at the tunnel beside SWWFRC (Y34 DP26). There still a few spaces available, so to book a place, please call Rena on 086 8621346

Ramsgrange Men’s Group

This group, also known as Blokes with Cameras, meet every Wednesday evening, from 7pm to 9pm, in South West Wexford FRC. We do a whole range of activities, including photography training, woodwork, cookery, glass craft, astronomy and lots of talking!! Men of all ages are welcome. Shielbaggan Family Fun Day

Shielbaggan National School are holding a Family Fun Day on Sunday 5th May, from 12pm to 3pm. Loads of activities, including bottle stall, BBQ, lucky dip, dunk tank, fittest family, and much more.

Concert in Campile Hall

“Cash for clothes” fundraiser

St Louis Day Care Centre is looking for donations for a “Cash for clothes” fundraiser. Drop off at St Louis Day Care Centre (Y34 H283) on Thursday 25th April from 5pm to 7.30pm and Friday 26th April from 8am to 12 noon. We are looking for items such as adult and children’s clothes, pairs of shoes, hats, scarves, handbags and belts. No bedding, towels, curtains, pillows, kids toys or teddies, please. Your support for this fundraiser is greatly appreciated.

Active Retirement Group

The next monthly meeting will be held on Monday 13th May in South West Wexford Family Resource Centre at 2pm.

On Thursday 25th April, in the Sportsman’s Inn Ramsgrange, from 4pm to 6pm, we will have an afternoon of games, cards, or a chat, all welcome to come along.

Duncannon ICA

The April meeting of Duncannon ICA was held on Tuesday 9th April, in the St Louis Day Care Centre, Ramsgrange. Fourteen members attended. Gretta welcomed and thanked the Wexford Photographic Group, who photographed each member as part of the 70th anniversary celebration. Helena gave an update on the celebration lunch held on Saturday 13th April in the Horse and Hound. Deidre had been busy collecting photographs and memorabilia for displaying at the event.

ICA Has got Talent will be hosted in Camross Hall on the 25th April and the guild will be represented by Marie. Two members will attend the Federation meeting in Ballyfad on April 29th. The competition is for a photograph 7” x 5” titled “My View Of Spring”.

Members have enjoyed 3 sessions of chair yoga with Serena and classes will continue on Tuesday nights. A delicious tea was hosted by Anna and Deborah, supported by Eileen, Mary O’K, AND Gretta. Raffle prizes were won by Una, Anna and Mary C.

New Music and Song Club

Did you know that singing in a group can improve your health, boost your confidence, and fire up your self esteem, Why not join the newly formed Music & Song Club on Thursday nights in St Mogues Church, YE34 XW52, at 8pm. It is starting on Thursday 18th April, and running for 10 weeks. This is NOT a church choir, the music will be a variety, enjoyed in a venue with excellent acoustics. Anyone interested, please contact 087 3109658, or turn up 15 minutes early on the first night to sign up. Everyone is welcome and there is no charge.

Darkness into Light 5km Walk will take place in Killanne on Saturday 11th May at 4.15am. All are welcome.

ST LEONARDS

Lotto

There was no Jackpot winner in the Tintern Lotto draw last week. Three people matched three numbers and each received €70. They were; Noreen Maher c/o P.O. Ayda Whelan, Kinnagh and Richard Cruise, Tintern. The numbers drawn were; 11, 17, 18, 20. Next weeks Jackpot is €2,450 and next weeks match three winners will share €200. Skittles

Registration for skittle teams is on Tuesday 23th in Tir na nÓg at 8 30 pm. Existing and any new teams must register and submit fee on the night. The South East Skittles League is in its 14 year and is now a popular and entertaining sport in South Wexford. For further information phone Anna on 089241645

TULLOGHER-ROSBERCON

Bishops Message

With all the rain continuing to pour down, the Bishop of Ossory, Dr Niall Coll has asked that the Parishes include this plea for fine weather at all weekend Masses.

“For farmers currently labouring in wet conditions, and for all who rely on fine weather for their livelihood, may they be blessed with favourable conditions to provide for their families and our communities”.

Trocaire 2024

All Trocaire boxes and envelopes should be returned to the Parochial House, Parish Office, or the box at the rear end of the church as soon as possible. We hope to forward all contributions to the Diocesan Office in early May. Your generosity to the poorest on the poor is much appreciated.

Senior Football

Tullogher Rosbercon senior footballers had a cracking win against O Loughlin Gael s in the quarterfinal of the Kilkenny championship. The score line of 4-3 to 0-7 tells its own story and was sweet revenge for their defeat to the same opposition in the League. There, the O’Loughlin’s won by 3-11 to 0-7 so this was some turn around, well done boys.

Historical Society Lecture

The South Kilkenny Historical Society will host a lecture in Mullinavat Hall on Friday 26th April. The topic is, “Kilkenny’s Titanic Survivor” and the speaker is Mary Ann Vaughan. The lecture commences at 8pm sharp and admission is only €5 with members free. All are welcome.
