Minnesota Twins third baseman Jose Miranda had good company at the Twins game Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium against the New York Yankees.

In attendance, for the first time in Jose's Major League career, was Jose's cousin, award-winning songwriter, singer, actor, filmmaker and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda.

“It's been really lovely to watch his rise,” Lin-Manuel Miranda said. “He's just so gifted and a lovely, humble guy. Our whole family is so proud. The entire cousin network is always on high alert when he's at bat.”

Lin-Manuel had planned to attend one of Jose's games at Yankee Stadium last year in his rookie season, but the game was rained out. Sunday, he got to see his cousin play in the big leagues for the first time.

“To actually have someone from the family make it up to the majors is like an enormous source of pride," Lin-Manuel Miranda said.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is best known for writing the hit musical 'Hamilton'. Lin-Manuel says he has been attending Yankees games his whole life. Lin-Manuel was born in New York. Jose grew up in Puerto Rico, and was drafted out of Leadership Christian Academy in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico in 2016.

The Yankees would go on to win 2-0 Sunday, improving their record to 10-6 on the season.

The Twins fall to 10-6 with the loss, and remain atop the American League Central, one game up on the Cleveland Guardians (9-7).
