Extremely Quirky Destinations For Santa Clarita Residents To Visit – 2045 Solar Eclipse

Why read about an eclipse when there are a slew of places to visit to watch the 2045 solar eclipse live and in person, waiting to be discovered?

In the 50th part of a multi-part series, KHTS uncovers unusual destinations Santa Clarita residents can visit for their “quirky” getaway.

This week takes us across the country to various places to watch an eclipse.

It’s been over a week since the last eclipse and people are already preparing for a more magical one that will occur at Disney World in 2045.

The Florida-based theme park is set to be in complete darkness for six minutes on Aug. 12, 2045, according to the National Eclipse.

They are not the only ones going dark because cities within the path include Reno, Salt Lake City, Colorado Springs, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Tampa, Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Nassau, Santo Domingo, Belém, São Luís, and Recife.

While it may seem like a lifetime away, it’s never too early to start saving up for a big trip.

The question is, what location will you be watching from?

There are multiple places to view the 2045 eclipse, so here is a list of cities to view it and places to stay.

Orlando, Florida:

Orlando is at the top of the list and will likely be the most popular destination to view the 2045 eclipse.

There is plenty to do in Orlando, with the most prominent attraction being Disney World. Guests can choose from four different parks at Disney World.

Universal Studios and SeaWorld are other places that can make for a great viewing experience.

Beyond theme parks, there are multiple places to rent kayaks or boats to experience the eclipse on the water.

Salt Lake City, Utah:

Salt Lake City’s natural beauty makes it an ideal place to be during an eclipse.

The Gilgal Sculpture Garden is a great place to view the eclipse outdoors, and it is free.

The Gilgal Sculpture Garden is home to twelve unique works of art and 70 stones inscribed with Bible verses, poems and literary texts. It is the only known “visionary art environment” in Utah.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma:

Oklahoma City is another location with wonderful scenery and one unique way to enjoy it is on a Bricktown Water Taxi.

The guided tours offered by Bricktown Water Taxi, which is situated in the center of Oklahoma City’s entertainment district, provide a unique viewpoint for every guest. A close-up view of the canal’s numerous attractions, such as historical sites, vibrant murals and nearby landmarks, is provided to riders. Now, set out on your next adventure with us through Bricktown’s history, where you will discover the Modern Frontier’s past, present and a look into the future.

Santo Domingo,  Dominican Republic:

For those wanting to travel out of the country for the eclipse, San Domingo,  Dominican Republic, is the perfect place to visit.

Continuing the trend of places to enjoy the eclipse with amazing views, Dr. Rafael María Moscoso National Botanical Garden is just that.

Then, there is Three Eyes National Park, a tranquil nature park with a unique series of limestone caverns and subterranean lagoons. It is an open-air limestone cave home to three beautiful lakes (hence the name “The Three Eyes”).
