MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - 18-year-old Zair Alejandro of Porter is facing charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle, along with an additional outstanding felony warrant for a similar offense from Harris County.

According to the Montgomery County Constable Precinct 4, a deputy from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop early Sunday on Sorters Road due to a traffic violation. This led to a pursuit through Kingwood Drive, Northpark Drive and onto Highway 59. The suspect’s red Camaro then collided with a deputy’s vehicle near the FM 1314 exit on Highway 59. The Constable says the impact sent the deputy’s vehicle airborne, crashing into an embankment and totaling the vehicle. The Camaro also struck a telephone pole before Alejandro fled on foot.

A K9 unit from the Houston Police Department assisted in the search for Alejandro. Later that morning, Constable Kenneth Hayden organized a search operation and said Alejandro was in custody in less than an hour.

The deputy sustained non-life-threatening injuries but will be off work for a while, according to the Constable’s Office.
