Stewart returned to The Daily Show desk Monday night for his weekly monologue, which saw the comedian mock Greene after she suggested on X that Friday's 4.8-magnitude earthquake on the east coast — coupled with Monday's historic eclipse — were "signs to tell us to repent" in America. "How do you know? How would you know that that is what God meant? Why would God be so obtuse?" Stewart asked. "Why would he do that — or, she. Why would she. Or, how crazy would it be if God insisted on they/them?" Stewart continued, asking Greene if she really thought this is "how God works" in mysterious ways. "I don't know, dim the lights for like, four minutes in a very specific path?" he continued. "Give New Jersey a little shake?" The Daily Show isn't the only TV series to break down the aftermath of the earthquake. On Friday, The View cohosts reflected on the moment the quake hit their Manhattan studio, with Ana Navarro suggesting that she needed tequila after feeling the earth move, while Sunny Hostin said she was so distracted by listening to Beyoncé in her dressing room that she didn't even feel it.
