Russell Canouse, a defensive midfielder in his eighth season with D.C. United, is sidelined indefinitely with a health condition unrelated to the ankle injury that has kept him out since preseason, Coach Troy Lesesne said Thursday.

“It’s something we’re monitoring right now and we’re evaluating [and] that’s going to probably keep him out for a little bit of time,” Lesesne said. “It’s indefinite, and I don’t have a ton of information right now, but it’s noninjury related.”
