Westbound I-70 bridge over I-695 temporarily closed for Work Zone Safety Ride
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will temporarily close the westbound Interstate 70 bridge in Baltimore County on April 16.The section of I-70 travels over I-695 in the Woodlawn area and will be closed between 5:45 a.m. and 5 p.m. A detour will be in place for drivers who want to travel westbound on I-70, guiding them through the outer loop of I-695, then to westbound U.S. Route 40 to northbound U.S. Route 29 and back to westbound I-70.This closure is part of a Work Zone Safety Unity Ride that is scheduled to take place at noon on April 16. The ride is intended to raise awareness of work zone safety and to honor those who have been injured or killed in work zone crashes.The ride is expected to last an hour and will start from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and will travel along the beltway and will finish at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. Up to 350 vehicles are expected to participate. The procession will travel at the posted speed. Drivers can expect brief ramp closures to accommodate the procession.
