Caddo coroner identifies man who was stabbed to death; woman arrested

She faces a charge of second-degree murder

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — A man is dead and a woman is accused of using a knife to stab him in the chest.

It was about 12:20 a.m. Sunday (April 7) when police were summoned to the 9500 block of Rose Hollow Lane in Shreveport’s Briarcliff neighborhood.

That’s where officers found 43-year-old Zachery Johnson, of the 9500 block of Rose Hollow Lane. The Caddo coroner’s office reports that he was stabbed following a family altercation.

Johnson was rushed to Ochsner LSU Health, the Shreveport hospital where he died at 12:58 a.m. His death marks the 19th homicide this year in Shreveport. An autopsy has been ordered.

Shemika D. Johnson, 39, was arrested at 7:59 a.m. Sunday and booked into the City Jail seven minutes later on a charge of second-degree murder, booking records show.

According to the Lincoln Parish Journal, Johnson was a basketball player at LA Tech from 2000 to 2003. He also played at Woodlawn High School, the journal says.
