Casting Site Faces California Class Action for Submission Fees

Casting Networks LLC is facing a proposed class action filed Tuesday by actors alleging the audition site breaks a California law by charging them for job opportunities.

The platform, which lets actors send casting directors photos, audition tapes, and other materials, uses a tiered subscription model that includes one free option and two paid options in violation of a state law that bars predatory practices for talent discovery and career advancement, according to the complaint filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
