Adam Levine Says It's 'Really Surreal' to See Mick Jagger Dancing to Maroon 5 Hit 'Moves Like Jagger'

"I was shocked not more people sent it to me," Levine said of the video during an appearance on 'The Tonight Show' on Weds., April 10

Adam Levine found it "surreal" to see Mick Jagger swinging his hips to "Moves Like Jagger."

During his appearance on The Tonight Show on Wednesday, April 10, the Maroon 5 frontman, 45, opened up about seeing the Rolling Stones frontman, 80, dancing to his band's 2011 hit.

“It’s really surreal,” Levine said of the video that Jagger posted in late March. “It’s just one of those things you’re like, ‘Oh my, like how is this possible? What is happening? It’s bizarre.’”

However, the former Voice judge didn't get as many alerts from loved ones as he thought he would.

"My mom and like one of my friends sent me the video," Levine continued. “I was shocked not more people sent it to me.”

The "This Love" singer revealed that the original song was supposed to be "for a female artist to sing."

Levine said that he was “the only idiot crazy enough to say that I have the moves like Jagger.”

He explained that it's “confidence thing. It’s a swag thing."

“He’s the man," Levine added.

Elsewhere in the interview, the "She Will Be Loved" musician also hinted at new music and he discussed Maroon 5's residency in Las Vegas.

“It’s coming,” he said of the possibility of new music. “For the first time in about 13 years, I’ve decided to take the reins back from the songwriting part of it.” He’s determined that “the ideas come either from myself or the band. So that we’re not going to have any real co-writes. The ideas are coming straight from the nucleus of Maroon 5,” which, he assures, will make the music “sound a like it did in the very beginning. I’m so excited about what’s happening right now.“

Last month, Jagger was out in public when a band began to play "Moves Like Jagger" and was caught on camera dancing to the track.

In the video, he can be seen laughing at the cameraperson while waving his hands around and even pausing for dramatic effect.

The "Paint It, Black" artist ended up sharing the clip of him strutting to the track to his Instagram account.

"Moves like who," Jagger captioned the video, before crediting a band named Splash for their "Moves Like Jagger" rendition.

Maroon 5 are continuing their wildly successful Las Vegas residency with a 16-show run at Park MGM on May 17, 2024.
