Singer Ed Sheeran, who was recently in India for the final leg of his +-=/x (Mathematics) Tour, met cricketer Shubman Gill and comedian Tanmay Bhat for a fun interaction. Ed opened up about his time in Mumbai and also revealed that he watches Shah Rukh Khan’s films while travelling.
Ed shared the vlog on YouTube. In the video, Gill brought up Kapil Sharma when he was asked to name his favourite comedian. On hearing Kapil’s name, Ed ears perked up. “I am doing that show,” he said. Kapil recently launched The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix; it serves as a spiritual successor to the previous iterations of his variety show, which aired on regular television.
Talking about Shah Rukh over some chaat and other snacks, Ed said, “I’ve met him once before, very, very briefly. But I obviously know his films. When I’m traveling a lot, there’s always a Bollywood section on flights. So yeah, I’ve seen quite a few.” When Ed revealed that he is meeting SRK for dinner, Gill said, “Ask him why he did not retain me?” The cricketer was a part of SRK’s IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.
Shah Rukh and his wife, Gauri, hosted Ed at their Mumbai home, Mannat, on March 14. Gauri shared pictures with the singer and wrote, “What a pleasure listening to you sing @teddysphotos !!! Thank u for spending the evening with us.”
In the same vlog, Ed was asked about singers like Eminem, Cardi B and Beyonce. When asked about Eminem, he said, “He is not what I expected. I expected him to be quite intense. I didn’t know how I would warm up to him. And he’s like completely the opposite of that. He’s a really warm, sweet guy.”
About Cardi B, he said, “She’s fun. First time I met her, she speaks 100 miles per hour. First time I met her, she thought I knew Prince Harry. But she thought I was really close with Prince Harry, and she was just like, ‘You need to introduce me to Prince Harry. I want to get married to Prince Harry.'” In the vlog, Ed also revealed that his biggest fan base resides in India, going by sheer numbers.
