Factory worker, 30, dies after becoming 'trapped' in machinery

GAFFNEY, S.C. (WKRC) - A factory worker died after becoming "trapped in machinery at the facility.

According to PEOPLE, 30-year-old Brianna Danielle Coyle died after she got caught in machinery at a fabric plant in South Carolina. Per the publication, the accident happened at approximately 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

“Witnesses reported Coyle became trapped at the machine where she was working. She was found by co-workers and transported to Cherokee Medical Center for treatment," Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler told WYFF.

According to the outlet, Coyle was taken to the hospital, where she died in the emergency department just before 1 p.m.

The Cherokee County coroner told PEOPLE that Coyle worked at Carolina Cotton Works.

“We had a tragic accident at CCW today," human resources manager Brittiany Rape told the outlet. "Unfortunately, one of our employees has passed away. We are deeply saddened and are cooperating with the proper authorities as we conduct our investigation."

Carolina Cotton Works is a manufacturer of mask fabrics, medical gowns, flame-retardant workwear, military apparel and other products, according to PEOPLE.

The South Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the incident, per the publication.

The company did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
