Pete Davidson cancels his sitcom Bupkis co-starring Edie Falco and Joe Pesci... after it was RENEWED for season two

Pete Davidson has decided to cancel his semiautobiographical sitcom Bupkis - despite the fact it was renewed for a second season.

The show starred Pete, 30, as a lightly fictionalized version of himself alongside Edie Falco and Joe Pesci as his mother and grandfather.

Bupkis premiered on Peacock last May and was picked up for a second season in June, after enjoying a warm response from the critics.

However Pete has now decided not to pursue the project any further, telling the Hollywood Reporter that 'this part of my life is finished.'

Insiders claim Pete's agent did not personally notify Bupkis' production company Broadway Video of the cancelation - even though its chairman Lorne Michaels is the man who made Pete a star by hiring him on Saturday Night Live.

Pete did apparently break the news to Peacock earlier this week, informing them of his decision via an email from his agent.

The funnyman achieved national fame as the then-youngest cast member in the history of Saturday Night Live, which Lorne created in the 1970s.

He then catapulted to global notoriety for his romantic relationships with superstars Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian.

His dating history also includes Kate Beckinsale and Emily Ratajkowski, plus Larry David's daughter Cazzie David and Cindy Crawford's daughter Kaia Gerber.

Bupkis, however, focuses on Pete's family life on Staten Island, where he and his mother are grappling with the fact his grandfather has terminal cancer.

Pete created the program with his longtime friend and co-writer Dave Sirus, who along with Judd Apatow also helped Pete pen the screenplay for his semiautobiographical movie The King Of Staten Island.

'I’ve always seen Bupkis as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family,' Pete said in a statement announcing the cancelation.

'After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media I wanted a chance to tell my story my way,' added the comedian.

'Of all the work I’ve ever done, Bupkis is by far what I’m most proud of. I am so grateful to Lorne Michaels and Broadway Video, Peacock, Universal Television and the amazing cast and writers for helping me create something honest, funny and heartfelt,' the Bodies Bodies Bodies actor went on.

'I do also feel that this part of my life is finished. I’m very excited for this next chapter and for you guys to see the work,' Pete continued, before concluding: 'Thank you to all who support me for I am forever grateful.'

Season two of Bupkis was meant to begin filming over the summer of this year before Pete decided to pull the plug on the series.

Although multiple renewals have been retroactively pulled because of budget cuts in showbiz, insiders maintain Bupkis was not the victim of such money woes.
