Stephen Colbert roasts Donald Trump's Gettysburg comments with mock Ken Burns doc

Don't expect this one to hit PBS any time soon.

Stephen Colbert had a field day mocking Donald Trump's weekend rally in Pennsylvania, where the latter appeared to ramble gibberish and stumble over words during a speech in Schnecksville. One such word: "adlinthin" while talking about immigration; plus, incoherent comments about the Battle of Gettysburg.

Evoking a high school student's paper on Gettysburg when they hadn't been keeping up with the reading, Trump told the crowd, "Gettysburg, what an unbelievable battle that was. I mean, it was so much and so interesting and so vicious and horrible and so beautiful in so many different ways. It represented such a big portion of the success this country. Gettysburg, wow."

Colbert dryly called Trump's comments "stirring" in Monday night's The Late Show monologue. "I look forward to Ken Burns’ updated documentary," he said, sharing a parody of a Burns doc featuring Trump's words beginning at the 7 min. mark.

The host also whipped out his best Trump impression in response to headlines about the former president appearing to nod off a few times during the first day of his hush money trial, which has been mercilessly mocked by a number of late night hosts. A Trump campaign spokesperson has, of course, since brushed off the reports as "fake news."

In response to reports that Trump had jolted awake after his lawyer had passed him notes, Colbert parodied Trump and said, "Oh my God I was having the most terrible dream, that I had to read something. Oh no, the dream was real. But if it's real then where's the hamburger with boobs?"
