Woman Shares What Mom Did at 26 Compared to Daughter: Results Are Hilarious

Oh, how times have changed.

A TikTok video posted by Nancy and Delilah Blakeney (@theblakeneys) has gone viral for revealing a hilarious generational difference between the latter sister and their mother. At 26 years old, Delilah and her mom had wildly different life goals. Since the clip was posted two days ago, it has received over 101,000 likes and over 230 comments.

The video features a side-by-side slideshow revealing a nostalgic glimpse into the lives of the Blakeney family across generations. Nancy starts the comparison with a photo of their mother at 26, visibly pregnant with Delilah, Nancy's big sister. The juxtaposition then moves to a candid photo of Delilah at the same age, waiting for her spaghetti bolognaise to be cut up by their mom.

Delilah, 26, told Newsweek about the inspiration behind the video and the relationship she has with her sister and mother.

She said that she and her sister had seen the trend on TikTok comparing parents' activities at a certain age to their children's, and thought she and her mother's example would "work perfectly". The participation in the trend was natural—the trio is remarkably close, Delilah added.

"The three of us are inseparable and have the most wonderful friendship and relationship," Delilah said. "My sister, Nancy, is three years younger than me, and we are all the best of friends. We run a family business just outside of London."

When it comes to her pasta preferences, Delilah put it down to a family joke.

"It's just a thing I have with spaghetti," she said. "I always joke it taste better when my mum cuts it up... I cringe at myself, knowing it is so offensive to any Italian."

How Did Viewers React?

Italians did have something to say about Delilah's preference: "Cut up?! My Italian soul withers," @whoopsiedaisy665890324 wrote.

However, others were empathetic with Delilah's desire to keep a part of childhood intact—and said that food does taste better when it has a bit of mom's touch.

"I'm 29 and pregnant with a baby and I'm still my mommy's baby," @naddy.zaini posted.

"This is me waiting for my scrambled egg on toast to be cut into bite sized squares," @emmaclark135 commented.

"My mom would always remove the meat from the bone even now as adults," @yoshimitsuuuuu wrote. "We tell it's OK but she does it anyways."

The Blakeney family proves that there's no "right" way to be an adult, and plenty of TikTok users are still indulging in homemade food and comforts. However, when put into decades-long perspective, the differences do seem drastic.
