UPDATE: Red Cross reports 26 people displaced after multiple York City apartment fires

York City officials are providing more information about a fire that damaged six different apartments on Sunday.

According to York City Fire Chief, William Sleeger, the blaze was actually two separate fires independent from each other that had impacted units along the same block of 500 N. Pershing Ave.

One fire, affecting two units and the other impacting four.

Out of the six apartments, Sleeger says two of them are total losses and are in the process of being torn down.

While one person was rescued from the fire and evaluated by EMS, Sleeger says no one was seriously injured.

The Red Cross also confirms to CBS 21 that 14 people were displaced from the incident.

Sleeger says the cause of both fires is under investigation.

UPDATE | The Red Cross now reports that 26 people are being assisted after being displaced by the 3-alarm fire. The 26 in total includes 18 adults and 8 children.
