Kevin Feige teases R-rated 'Deadpool & Wolverine' at CinemaCon: 'It's f---ing awesome'

Disney brought a new look at the R-rated Marvel movie to Las Vegas.

When the Merc with a Mouth hits Las Vegas, he hits it hard.

Disney showed off a fresh sneak peek at Deadpool and Wolverine at CinemaCon, the annual convention where studios preview their upcoming slates for movie theater owners. And aside from new looks at Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, back together as their titular characters for the first time since 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Marvel presented nine minutes of footage teasing Wade Wilson's foray into the MCU.

Director Shawn Levy was present at CinemaCon, where he will also be honored as Director of the Year during a ceremony on Thursday. He told the crowd that he counted himself lucky to direct this "team-up that all of us fans have waited at least 15 years to see." "Hugh and Ryan in their most iconic roles, bringing their A-game every day, was remarkable," he added.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also teased that the film is "f---ing awesome." "I'm allowed to say that!" he told the audience with a grin. "It's R-rated!"

The footage introduced Reynolds' Wade working as a car salesman, stapling a wig to his head before heading to work. He later admits to friend Peter (a returning Rob Delaney) that he's struggling to adjust to normal life, having retired from superheroism.

Later, Wade celebrates his birthday with some familiar faces, including Leslie Uggams' Blind Al and Morena Baccarin's Vanessa. After blowing out his candles and making a wish, agents from the Time Variance Authority (the multiverse organization first introduced in Disney+ series Loki) show up to crash, whisking Wade away to meet with Mr. Paradox (Succession star Matthew Macfadyen). At one point, Deadpool turns to the camera, breaking the fourth wall to declare: "Suck it, Fox. I'm going to Disneyland!"

The footage ended with Deadpool reuniting with Wolverine, driving together in a car. There, Deadpool pokes fun at Wolverine's costume, arguing that his color scheme makes him look like he plays for the Los Angeles Rams.

Various other names and Marvel characters have been reported to appear in Deadpool and Wolverine, but only a select few have been officially confirmed. Karan Soni (Dopinder), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapičić (Colossus), Shioli Kutsuna (Yukio), Rob Delaney (Peter), Lewis Tan (Shatterstar), and Randal Reeder (Buck) are all reprising their roles from the past Deadpool movies.

Emma Corrin (A Murder at the End of the World) will also play a villain (rumored to be a notable figure from the X-Men comics), and Aaron Stanford, who played fire-wielding mutant Pyro in 2003's X2 and 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, was spotted in the film's previous Super Bowl trailer.

Deadpool and Wolverine will be a third-wall-breaking multiverse adventure that sees TVA agents yank Wade Wilson/Deadpool out of his reality and into various others. The film is set for release on July 26.
