Michelle Obama Loves Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' as Much as You Do

And she thinks it will encourage voters.

Nothing says America quite like country music and Beyoncé riding a horse in red, white, and blue assless chaps. On Tuesday, another national treasure took to social media to praise Cowboy Carter and encourage music lovers to let Queen Bey's foray into country music be the soundtrack of your election season.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama shared the album cover — which captures Bey sitting on the side of a white horse while carrying an American flag — on Instagram to simultaneously applaud the Grammy-winning artist as well as use the genre-bending album as a call to action.

"@Beyonce, you are a record-breaker and history-maker. With Cowboy Carter, you have changed the game once again by helping redefine a music genre and transform our culture. I am so proud of you!" Obama started off her caption before reminding her followers that they, too, have a voice. Cowboy Carter is a reminder that despite everything we’ve been through to be heard, seen, and recognized, we can still dance, sing, and be who we are unapologetically. This album reminds us that we ALL have power. There’s power in our history, in our joy, and in our votes — and we can each use our own gifts and talents to make our voices heard on the issues that matter most to us."

The activist continued by encouraging everyone to get out there and "stand up for what" they believe in at the November ballots, quoting one of the tracks on Cowboy Carter.

"The issues that impact us most are on the ballot across the country — from equal pay and racial justice to reproductive healthcare and climate change," she wrote. "And as Queen Bey says at the end of 'Ya Ya,' we need to 'keep the faith' and 'VOTE!'"

"You can register to vote with @WhenWeAllVote in the time it takes you to listen to your favorite song on the album," she concluded. "Visit WhenWeAllVote.org to register now."

Obama and Beyoncé's friendship and shared love of democracy goes all the way back to 2009 when the singer performed at the We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration At The Lincoln Memorial concert. Beyoncé performed once again for Barack in 2013 at his second Presidential Inauguration, during which she sang National Anthem.
