BUNNELL, Fla. – U.S. Marshals and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office made a third arrest in connection to a Bunnell shooting that left a 19-year-old bystander in critical condition.

Officials arrested 19-year-old Ah’Nyis DeAngelo Johnson on April 3 as he was leaving his mother’s home just two blocks away from where the shooting occurred.

The first to be arrested was Antarius Henderson, 23, in East Palatka on March 22, who was involved in a fistfight on East Drain Street and South Anderson Street on March 16. Officials said after losing the fight, Henderson walked to a vehicle, grabbed a handgun and began firing at his opponent and other bystanders.

Police said one bystander was struck in his chest and hip by bullets from Henderson’s gun. He was taken to the hospital where he remained in critical condition and is still hospitalized.

The second to be arrested was 17-year-old Rya Sir Matthew Jefferson from Palm Coast. He was charged with carrying a concealed firearm and discharging a firearm in public. Officials said once Henderson started shooting, Jefferson took off running, but he turned around and started shooting at Henderson.

Investigators said Jefferson then handed the gun off to Johnson, who then ran towards Henderson while firing the gun at him. Johnson then quickly turned around and ran away.

Detectives determined Johnson was Henderson’s opponent in the fistfight that led to the gunfire.

Jefferson was arrested in Palm Coast on March 25 and was charged with possession of a firearm by a delinquent adult and discharging a firearm in public.

I want to thank all our law enforcement partners – the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force for working with our detectives to bring this case to a successful conclusion. By many accounts, our victim in this shooting is a good man and happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time simply walking home. The victim is lucky to be alive but is needlessly suffering from severe, life-altering injuries because of Henderson’s violent actions. Because of the thoroughness of this investigation and support from our law enforcement partners, three violent offenders are in jail and the victim now has the opportunity to see justice served. Also, this serves as a reminder to our entire community that we will not tolerate violence and will do everything within the law and our power to track down violent offenders and put them in jail.
