Carteret man charged with murdering 23-year-old borough man in March

CARTERET - A 22-year-old borough man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of another borough man last month.

Javon Robinson was arrested in Carteret Thursday without incident and charged with murder, a first-degree crime, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a handgun, both second-degree crimes, in connection with the death of Evan Blozen, 23, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone announced.

Around 9:57 p.m. March 12 police were called to a shooting in the area of Roosevelt Avenue. When officers arrived,, they found a man, identified as Blozen, who had gunshot wounds.

Blozen was taken to Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy where he was later pronounced dead.

An investigation by Carteret Sgt. Luis Maldonado and Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office Detective Javier Morillo led to Robinson's arrest.
