WOODWARD, Okla. — A Mooreland teenager injured in a two-vehicle accident Saturday night, March 23, 2024, has died of his injuries.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the 17-year-old boy died at 6:13 p.m. Monday at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

Three other teenagers who were passengers in the vehicle were treated for their injuries and released. OHP originally stated all four had been hospitalized, but changed that information in a report issued Monday evening. OHP does not name juveniles in its accident reports.

The accident happened at 10:55 p.m. Saturday on County Road 202 about 2.5 miles south of Woodward, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.

All four teens were in one vehicle, a 2014 Dodge Charger. In addition to the driver, his passengers were Jayden Clark, 18, of Woodward, along with a 16-year-old girl from Shattuck and a 15-year-old boy from Woodward, according to OHP.

According to the report, the 17-year-old was driving the Charger and was making a u-turn on County Road 202 when he was hit by a 2005 Nissan Armada driven by Jeremiah Z. Marvel, 42, of Woodward. Marvel told OHP he did not see the other vehicle making the u-turn.

Marvel was treated at Woodward Hospital for trunk and arm injuries and released, according to the report. The report lists his condition as intoxicated and the cause of the accident as alcohol-DUI. He was arrested and in Woodward County Jail on Monday morning, according to the Woodward News.

The condition of the Charger driver was listed as apparently normal, according to the report. Seat belts were not in use by anyone involved.
