Long waits persist at 2 crowded Syracuse ERs: ‘Still far from where we want to be’: Despite putting a dent in emergency room wait times, two of Syracuse’s hospitals are still far worse than their peers nationally in getting patients in and out of ERs. St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center saw a 22% drop in the average ER stay in the past year. But ER patients at St. Joe’s still spent an average of more than 5 hours per stay in 2023. At SUNY Upstate Medical University’s three ERs, the number of patients who left without being seen dropped by one-third. Yet 10% of people who went to Upstate’s ERs last year left without treatment. It’s still worse than the national averages.

Stewart’s to move ahead with proposed convenience store in Marcellus: Stewart’s Shops are moving forward with a proposal to build a convenience store in the village of Marcellus, now that local officials have removed a hurdle blocking the sale of Nojaim’s Bros. supermarket. “The village did the right thing in the end,” supermarket owner Rich Nojaim said.
