Free dental screenings for uninsured kids at Give Kids a Smile Day

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Northern Nevada Dental Health Programs will host a Give Kids a Smile Day on Saturday.

Its where uninsured children can get free dental screenings by volunteer dentists at Truckee Meadows Community College. X-rays, sealants, fluoride and other home care instructions will also be provided.

If a child has other dental needs, they are referred to a dentist who will provide care, free of charge. The NNDHP says sometimes people don’t realize how important dental hygiene is and how diet plays an important part in cavities.

The goal is to help every kid that needs it. The dentists around the community who provide dental care after the event will still see the children for free until their dental needs are met.

The free dental event is happening Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Kids must be 18 years old or younger and uninsured.

Appointments are recommended. The event is happening at Truckee Meadows Community College off of Dandini Boulevard.
