Clemson football's Sammy Watkins, Tajh Boyd headline school's 2024 athletic Hall of Fame class

CLEMSON — Clemson athletics announced its 2024 Hall of Fame class Thursday, and former Tigers football wide receiver Sammy Watkins and quarterback Tajh Boyd headline this year's inductees.

Watkins spent three seasons with the Tigers (2011-13) and was a three-time first-team All-American, one of just five players in Clemson history to achieve that. He finished his career with 240 receptions (second in program history) for 3,391 yards (first) and 27 touchdowns (tied for first). He was selected fourth overall in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills and won a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019.

Boyd, who played from 2010 through 2013, set school records in completions (901), passing yards (11,904) and passing touchdowns (107). He helped Clemson win its first ACC Championship in 20 years in 2011, won ACC player of the year in 2012 and made an all-ACC team three times. He was drafted in the sixth round in the NFL by the New York Jets.

The nine-member class includes Louise Greenwood (basketball), Michael Johnson (baseball), Jessica Leidecker (rowing), Mark Lisi (men’s soccer), Julie Rodriguez (volleyball), Victor Smalls (track and field) and Stephanie Weikert (track and field). Seven members of the class earned All-America honors in their respective sports, four helped Clemson earn ACC championships and four were drafted to play professionally.

The 2024 class will be inducted on Nov. 2.
