OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A Westminster man is in jail after he was allegedly found in a car with a child and just under two ounces of methamphetamine.

According to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, Ernes Wayne Hippensteal, 45, was arrested Wednesday evening after a deputy pulled him over for a traffic violation on Dunn Roamin Ranch Drive at Earles Grove Road.

As part of the stop, the deputy asked to search Hippensteal’s truck, and Hippensteal agreed.

According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy found just under two ounces of methamphetamine in the truck. Hippensteal was arrested and charged with one count each of trafficking in methamphetamine and unlawful exposure of a child to methamphetamine.

The child was given a ride back to their home by deputies with permission from the child’s guardians.
