BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- The Cancer Services Program of the Southern Tier has just partnered with a company to make getting cancer treatment easier for the uninsured and underinsured.

PALS SkyHope is an organization that provides free flights for anyone east of the Mississippi River who is traveling more than two hours for a medical appointment. Supervising Public Health Educator at the Broome County Health Department Laura Kelly said anyone who gets diagnosed at their program will be eligible to work with PALS SkyHope.

Kelly explained the program has more than 560 pilots who volunteer their time, fuel and planes to get more than 30,000 patients to the care they need.

”To find a new transportation opportunity that can help them quickly in a day get there and back, along with their family members and just make it easier for them is going to be a great resource for us in our community and people who live here,” Kelly said.
