RMC installs lights at ponds for Chaiti Chhath festivities
Ranchi: Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has installed rope lights and halogen lights at ponds in six prominent locations across the city in view of Chaiti Chhath Puja celebrations, where the evening argha was offered on Saturday.
The six spots include RIMS pond, Nayak Pond, Tetra Toli, Banas Pond, Railway Pond, Madhukum Pond, Reshaldar Baba Pond and Kadru Pond.
Around 117 poles have been equipped with lighting fixtures, consisting of both rope lights and halogen bulbs.
Administrator Ameet Kumar said, “Adorning the ponds with lights comes as part of efforts to enrich cultural festivities and provide a visually captivating experience for residents and visitors. The initiative aims to enhance the festive atmosphere and facilitate ease of participation for devotees and revelers gathering around the ponds to participate in the rituals.”
Local residents have appreciated the initiative, looking forward to the illuminated ponds across the state capital.
Sumedha Devi, a devotee, said, “We praise the efforts of RMC to beautify public spaces and promote cultural heritage through such initiatives.”
“The beautifully lit ponds serve as a visual treat, attracting visitors from all around to witness the grandeur of Chaiti Chhath celebrations in Ranchi,” she added.
Assistant administrator Suraj Prakash said that the lights were installed before Chhath Puja for the convenience of devotees and to enhance the experience for people who enjoy walking in the morning and evening.
