BATON ROUGE, La. (WGNO) — Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry has signed an emergency declaration for tornadoes and severe weather that hit Slidell and other parts of the state on April 10.
Landry signed the declaration on Tuesday, April 16, after visiting areas impacted by the tornadoes and storms.
The declaration will allow “the use of state resources to assist with the recovery process in each of the affected parishes.”
According to a news release, the state will provide St. Tammany, Pointe Coupee, West Feliciana and St. Landry parishes with debris removal assistance and emergency protective measures.
The release also notes the state will provide shelter assistance to people in St. Tammany parish within the jurisdiction of Slidell.
St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper signed an executive parish-wide state of emergency order on April 10.
