Kings legend Chris Webber returns to Sacramento this weekend to unveil his long-awaited memoir, “By God’s Grace.”"Anytime I come back to Sacramento, I'm proud," Webber told KCRA 3. “It was just so wonderful to look back and see how many people lifted me."The book offers a glimpse into the soaring highs of his career, as well as the challenging lows.“We have people in our lives that been those angels for us, whether it’s been a coach or a disciplinarian and what was that moment, that fork in that road that made you make a decision to do better, and so I wanted to appreciate those moments,” Webber said.Webber reflects on his rise to prominence from a high school standout in Michigan and the infamous timeout in the 1993 National Championship game with the Wolverines. He also reminisces on his 15-year Hall of Fame NBA Career, which included an initial unwilling stop in Sacramento.“I wanted a home, I wanted someplace to play, someplace with crazy fans and fierce people, and I tried to make sure I was in control, and when you in control you don’t necessarily get what you should,” Webber said.Webber hopes people walk away enjoying his journey of resilience, perseverance and keeping the faith.“I hope they have a few laughs, and I hope they take away that strength is in them, that the strength is inside you, we just need to be reminded sometimes.”See more coverage of top California stories here | Download our app.
