WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A Virginia woman is under arrest after police say she strangled a child.
Shanna Deniece Freeman, 44, of Woodbridge was arrested on April 15 and charged with strangulation, nearly three weeks after the incident allegedly occurred.
At 3:31 p.m., on March 27, officers responded to a home on Getty Lane in Woodbridge, to investigate an alleged assault that occurred inside the home two days prior. An investigation revealed that someone known to the family placed her hands around the neck of a 4-year-old girl, lifting her off the ground. Both the victim and woman accused of strangling her separated, and this is when the child told a family member about the encounter. Investigators say minor injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, officers got an arrest warrant for the woman, later identified as Freeman. Initial attempts to locate her were unsuccessful.
Nearly three weeks after the strangulation reportedly occurred, police were able to locate and arrest Freeman.
A court date is pending for Freeman. She is currently being held without bond.
