18-year-old Orlando woman struck, killed in Orlo Vista, troopers say

ORLO VISTA, Fla. – An 18-year-old Orlando woman standing on Old Winter Garden Road in Orlo Vista Thursday night was struck and killed by an SUV, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The wreck occurred eastbound around 8:40 p.m., west of Buena Vista Avenue, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the woman was standing in the eastbound inside lane of Old Winter Garden Road, not in a marked crosswalk, and in the direct path of a 2003 Nissan Xterra being driven by a 23-year-old Orlando man. The front of the Nissan struck the woman as a result, the report states.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to FHP. The man driving the SUV was not injured and remained at the scene, troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
