A New Haven woman was identified Tuesday as the victim of a Monday afternoon crash on Interstate 469.

Roberta Kohlhepp, 62, died of multiple blunt force injuries due to the crash, which the Allen County coroner’s office also ruled as an accident.

Kohlhepp’s death is the fifth motor vehicle fatality for the county this year, according to the coroner’s news release.

Officers were dispatched to the 21-mile marker on I-469 northbound, near North River Road, about 4:25 p.m. Monday. First responders said six vehicles were involved, including a semitractor-trailer, an initial news release said.

Traffic was stalled due to construction and a semi rear-ended a smaller SUV, starting a chain reaction that involved a passenger car and three other SUVs, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department said Monday night.

The coroner’s office said it was notified about 4:40 p.m. Monday. Kohlhepp was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of victims is typically released by the coroner, following notification of next of kin.

Monday’s accident shut down part of I-469 for hours.

The crash remains under investigation by the county sheriff’s department, the county prosecutor’s office and coroner, Tuesday’s release said.
