Children’s Museum of Wilmington hosting NC Science Festival on Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) —  The Children’s Museum of Wilmington’s is hosting a celebration for the 2024 NC Science Festival on Saturday.

This year’s theme is “State of Innovation” and the Museum will be hosting a morning full of fun activities that focus on technology and innovation.

Visitors can look forward to engaging with technology without a screen and imagining themselves as scientists along the way. Activities will include engineering a scribblebot, creating binary code bracelets, and going under the sea through virtual reality. The museum will also have exciting special guests coming, including geologists and engineers from Geosyntec, engineers from North American Young Generation in Nuclear, and a real robot from UNC Chapel Hill Computer Science Department.

The Museum will be open for usual exploration in addition to NC Science Festival activities.

The North Carolina Science Festival is a month-long celebration of science every April. There are hundreds of events across the state focused on fun, interactive science learning opportunities. An initiative of Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, the Festival highlights the educational, cultural and financial impact of science in North Carolina.

Science is an important part of childhood, serving to build important skills for learning and a basis for scientific understanding. This year’s event is “Inspiring Innovation at CMoW” and will provide an opportunity for little learners to test ideas, explore technology, and imagine being a scientist.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
