Zahara’s family to save lost home by hosting a concert

The family of the late award-winning singer-songwriter Bulelwa Mkutukana otherwise known as Zahara are pulling out all the stops to give themselves the best chance of buying back her Roodepoort home.

Before her passing in December last year, the singer found herself on the verge of losing her property after failing to pay the monthly instalments of her home loan which led to the bank choosing to place it on auction to the highest bidder.

However, with the help of a generous donor who according to news publication The South African was identified to be EFF’s Julius Malema, the singer was able to save herself from being homeless for a short while.

However, before her passing in December, the house was auctioned off in any case.

In a new revelation highlighted by The South African, Bandezwa, who is the sister of the late singer revealed that she and her family are eager to buy back the house – so much so, that they are planning to have a concert to raise funds to do this successfully.

Bandezwa added that have made a booking at the Orient Theatre in East London which is yet to be paid, and are in contact with several artists to come and perform at the event.

Due to the purpose of the show, the family however highlighted that they would not be able to compensate the artists their usual rates but would be paying a small fee to show appreciation for their efforts.

Meanwhile, some big names to be on board include actress Lusanda Mbane who will be the host, along with Khanyisa Sabuka, Butho Vuthela, Ivory Sikepe, Natji Mankayi, and Vusi Nova.
